Stress Ulcer in CVA Patient

Abstract
The incidence of bleeding from stress ulcer has increased remarkably over the last decade.
Stress ulcers have been estimated to be responsible for 13% of acute upper gastro-intestinal hemorrhage. Among the patients who require transfusion for bleeding from the stress ulceration, only small portion require operation.
But decision to operate is difficult because the patients are often extremely ill.
We experienced massive bleeding from stress ulcer in comatose CVA patient & performed subtotal gastrectomy successfully.
The case was presented with a brief review of literatures.
